Construction time reduction with concrete maturity measurement
Three residential buildings were constructed as part of the "Triiiple" building construction project. SORAVIA and ARE DEVELOPMENT were the clients of this 110 million Euro project. The buildings are centrally located and are each over 100 meters high. Tower 1 and Tower 2 contain a total of 480 condominiums, while Tower 3 offers space for 670 micro-apartments.
Due to its complex building geometry, the "Triiiple" building construction project presented those involved with some challenging tasks. All three towers were built as reinforced concrete skeleton structures. The cantilevered structures in particular posed a major technical challenge.
The location of the towers close to the city center was also one of the reasons for the complexity of the project. The limited construction area required precise planning and efficient use of the available space.
Another factor that complicated the construction work was the tight schedule. The start of construction in August 2018 meant that teams were under time pressure for to complete the project by summer 2021. Any delay could impact the overall schedule and strain the budget.
Solution and results
TEMO was used to measure the concrete's maturity in real time. Here, the system was attached to the reinforcement prior to concrete placement. As a result, the concrete temperature and the concrete grade used could be used to indicate the degree of maturity in real time. In the web portal, it was then possible to read off the strength development of the concrete in order to enable formwork to be stripped at the right time. This procedure saved a week of construction time on site.
